REPORT ON THE WORK OF THE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT for 2019-2023

PROFESSIONAL ORIENTATION WORK OF THE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

 

The Department of Financial Management has been operating within the Faculty of Finance and Business Management at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv since 2015. By order of the rector of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (No. 0-160 of December 17, 2019), in accordance with the decision of the Academic Council of November 27, 2019 (Minutes No. 77/11) dated 27 November 2019, the Department of State and Local Finance of the Faculty of Finance and Business Management was renamed the Department of Financial Management as of 01.01.2020.

The department is a graduating department and provides training for applicants of the first (bachelor’s) and second (master’s) levels of higher education in the field of knowledge D “Business, Administration and Law” with a specialization in D2 “Finance, Banking, Insurance and Stock Market” (educational and professional program “Finance, Customs and Taxation”). Its activities are aimed at combining modern educational standards with scientific research and practical training of students. This allows us to train competitive specialists who are able to work effectively in the conditions of a dynamically developing market economy.

The mission of the department is to shape patriotic, creative, and well-rounded individuals who are competent professionals capable of generating innovative ideas for successful scientific and practical work in the field of finance, which is needed by the city, region, and country in order to improve the standard of living and quality of life of people and the development of society.

The vision of the department is to be a competitive department with a developed corporate culture, high standards of education and scientific research, space for self-realization of each individual, whose activities are aimed at high-quality training of specialists in the field of finance based on advanced information technologies and integration into the global educational and scientific space.

The department implements high-quality educational programs focused on international standards and integration into the global educational and scientific space. The main priorities of the department are the introduction of innovative teaching methods, the development of scientific activity, integration into the international educational space, and the establishment of close cooperation with business structures and financial institutions. Thanks to this, the Department of Financial Management plays an important role in shaping the professional competencies of future financiers and economists, as well as in the development of modern financial science. Significant attention is paid to educational work aimed at developing competent and socially active individuals.

The relevance of the department’s work lies in the growing need of society and the economy for specialists capable of effectively managing financial flows, making strategic decisions, and ensuring the financial security of enterprises in a globalized world.

The highly professional scientific and pedagogical staff of the department is its greatest asset and guarantee of success. Teachers combine many years of experience in educational and scientific activities with active participation in international projects, research, and professional associations. They provide high-quality teaching of educational components, introduce innovative teaching methods, and supervise the scientific research of students, forming a new generation of specialists in the field of finance, banking, insurance, and the stock market.

EDUCATIONAL AND METHODOLOGICAL WORK OF THE DEPARTMENT

The purpose of the educational and methodological work of the department:

  • To ensure high quality of education in the specialty D2 “Finance, Banking, Insurance and Stock Market” and the educational and professional program of the department through the systematic development, improvement and implementation of educational materials, methodological approaches and teaching technologies that meet the modern requirements of the labor market and international standards.
  • To ensure the integration of the department’s research experience into the educational process, forming the competencies of higher education seekers in accordance with the chosen educational and professional program.

 

The educational and methodological work of the department includes:

  • developing and regularly updating syllabi for educational components in accordance with educational standards;
  • introducing modern pedagogical technologies and innovations: digital solutions, use of interactive learning platforms;
  • organizing and coordinating practical training for students;
  • preparation of teaching and methodological materials: lecture notes, practical tasks, tests, methodological recommendations;
  • participation in the preparation for the accreditation of educational programs;
  • conducting open classes, guest lectures, methodological seminars;
  • improving one’s own pedagogical skills.
