Course description

The discipline “Economics of sustainable development” ensures the formation of knowledge about the optimization and harmonization of the relationship between man and the environment, the creation of theoretically based measures to stabilize and improve the social, technical, economic, and environmental situation in modern conditions.

The subject of the academic discipline

The subject of the academic discipline is the scientific principles, theoretical models, management technologies of the sustainable development of the economy in the context of taking into account numerous exogenous and, to a greater extent, endogenous factors of the socio-economic potential of sustainable development in connection with the institutional consolidation of the European integration aspirations of the Ukrainian people.

The purpose of the educational discipline

The purpose of this discipline is the formation of modern thinking in future specialists based on the concept of sustainable development of the economy and the system of special knowledge in the field of management decision-making, the acquisition of practical abilities and skills in organization and management using a systemic approach and taking into account the consequences of activities in relation to the environment and quality of life . As well as promoting society on the path of sustainable development and ensuring safe conditions for the existence of humanity in the future.

 

The main tasks of the discipline is:

  • formation of students’ system of knowledge on the basics of sustainable development of the national economy;
  • acquisition by students of skills and the ability to independently solve certain practical issues, taking into account the impact of the consequences of activities for the sustainable development of the national economy;
  • to be able to determine the main aspects of activities that have an impact on sustainable development;
  • to be able to identify the problems facing society and which can be solved by using and observing the principles of sustainable economic development;
  • evaluate the factors affecting the sustainable development of the national economy;
  • have a general idea of the methods and means of solving emerging problems that hinder sustainable economic development;
  • acquire knowledge and ability to use the principles of sustainable development to resolve conflicts between various economic interests of groups in society and an individual in specific practical situations.

 

The place of the educational discipline in the structural and logical scheme

This discipline is related to such subjects as macro- and microeconomics, European integration and global problems of the present, international economy, national economy.

 

Requirements for knowledge and skills

The study of an academic discipline involves the achievement of such a qualification ­level of training of the student, for which he must:

a) know:

  • basic provisions of the concept of sustainable development of the national economy;
  • the main principles of building a safe existence of mankind, taking into account economic, social and ecological aspects;
  • basic information about modern world trends in the direction of sustainable development of mankind.

b) to be able to

  • evaluate the factors affecting the sustainable development of the national economy;
  • determine the main aspects in the activity that have an impact on sustainable development;
  • identify problems facing society and which can be solved by using and observing the principles of sustainable development;
  • to have a general idea of the methods and means of solving emerging problems that prevent the sustainable development of the national economy;
  • carry out calculations of index indicators of sustainable development;
  • use the main set of sustainable development indicators;
  • to navigate modern methods of determining man-made, ecological, economic, and social security;
  • use the principles of sustainable development to resolve conflicts between the various interests of society and an individual or group in specific practical situations.
