Guest lecture by Taras Klyoba. Search for information on open sources (OSINT) and information security

On April 3, 2023, students of the Department of Economics and Public Administration (speciality 281 Public Administration and Administration) met at a guest lecture with Taras Klyoba—a study on open source intelligence (OSINT) and information security.

Taras Klyoba – Doctor of Philosophy in Economics, certified Microsoft Trainer, SoftServe Ukrainian engineering team member – winners at the TIDE NATO Hackathon 2023.

The lecture had a practical part, where we heard: what information can be found about us on the Internet using the example of a teacher, Sherman Kent and the history of open data research, Google and the search for unique identifiers, the Wayback Machine — a tool for finding archived versions of pages, Google dorks, Telegram bots and search for personal data, social networks and Facebook, Insta stories and photos in social networks for geolocation search, search for social profiles and their analysis, nickname – a unique identifier, Telegram bots and search for personal data, results obtained.

The topic of the lecture was discussed from the point of view of future civil servants: state registers, YouControl and other tools for searching by a legal entity, banking applications for searching personal data, services used by state institutions, basic principles of cyber security in Ukraine in conditions of war with Russia.
