February 29, 2024 Guest lecture by Iryna Kuropas “Project management in local councils: as a key to the sustainable development of communities and why should it have been implemented “yesterday”? for higher education applicants of Educational programs of the specialty Public administration and administration of the Department of Economics and Public Administration

Iryna Kuropas has more than ten years of experience in the field of project management and conducting events for local organizations and self-governing municipalities. Experience in organizing and conducting regional and interregional events. She is the coordinator of “Economic integration and rapprochement with EU politicians” of the Ukrainian national platform of the Civil Society Forum of the Eastern Partnership, as well as the regional coordinator of the UPLAN network.

Important aspects of project management in local self-government bodies, such as team, strategy, partners, communications, involvement of all interested parties in the development of project ideas, and digitalization were discussed at the lecture. They discussed the problems of practical management in local councils. They noted the importance of developing a sustainable approach to the organization of the project management process and developing strategic planning skills, a constant process of acquiring knowledge and skills in the field of project management.

The bidders highlighted the key advantages of project management, because its application in public administration will make it possible to: rationally dispose of resources in conditions of shortage of funds and people; learn to better plan time, budget, goals of programs or individual projects; develop targeted programs and projects that correspond to the city development strategy; increase the level of accountability and transparency of the use of budget and donor funds, improving approaches to control, monitoring and reporting; to form innovative tools and applications that will facilitate the work of municipal employees, and will also translate into reputational and political dividends for the authorities.
