Опис курсу

The discipline “Decision Support Systems” is a normative discipline in the specialty 051 “Economics” for the educational program “Information Technologies in Business”, which is taught in the VII semester in the amount of 5 credits (according to the European Credit Transfer System ECTS).

The educational discipline “Decision Support Systems” is aimed at forming in higher education applicants a holistic understanding of the theoretical principles, methods and technologies that ensure the preparation, justification and optimization of management decisions in complex conditions. The course covers the study of models and algorithms for decision support, methods of analytical data processing, intellectual approaches to the selection of alternatives, as well as the principles of building and using modern information systems. Special attention is paid to practical skills in the application of modeling, visualization, forecasting and multi-criteria analysis tools, which contributes to the development of the ability to make informed decisions in economic, management and business contexts and increases the readiness of applicants for scientific and professional activities.

The purpose of studying the discipline “Decision Support Systems” is to form in future specialists a set of competencies that will allow them in their future professional activities to apply knowledge on the creation and use of decision support systems for the accumulation and mathematical processing of data in the process of making managerial decisions

The main goals (tasks) of the discipline are:

  • study of the theoretical foundations of creating decision support systems;
  • acquisition of practical skills in mastering methods of finding the best or acceptable course of action to achieve one or more goals, methods of supporting decision-making in poorly structured or unstructured situations;
  • formulation of requirements for decision support systems;
  • formation of skills in using decision support systems to solve applied problems;
  • conducting a comparative analysis and assessment of the DSS market;
  • study of methods and means of building expert systems.
