The subject of the academic discipline

The subject of the discipline “Business analysis of IT projects” is the study and mastery by students of the basic concepts, principles and types of analysis and modeling of business processes, to understand the place of business analysis in the life cycle of software development, as well as to acquire practical skills in the use and application of various types notations for analyzing and describing business needs to improve the business in general.

The purpose of studying the discipline “Business analysis of IT projects” is to help students gain knowledge and practical skills of forming an effective business model at various stages of enterprise development. Formation of knowledge and skills necessary for solving business analysis problems using a personal computer and modern software. To form theoretical and practical knowledge regarding the methodology of analysis of existing business processes, the use of modern tools for improvement and effective implementation of elements of business analysis in IT. Formation of professional practical competences regarding the use of conceptual principles of business analysis, application of business process modeling technologies for the purpose of making balanced management decisions.

Main tasks

The tasks of the educational discipline “Business analysis of IT projects” are: study of the main provisions, concepts and categories related to business analysis and business processes of the company; formation of a complex of interrelated competencies in the field of search and implementation of best practices in the formation of the company’s business processes; studying the process of continuous improvement of business processes; studying the main aspects of the work of a business analyst in the flexible conditions of product development; formation of skills to find out requirements (business requirements, user requirements, functional and non-functional requirements) and describe them correctly; determination of prioritization of requirements; as well as defining the necessary tools depending on the project and domain.

The discipline “Business analysis of IT projects” is interconnected with such disciplines as “Technologies of anti-crisis and intelligent business management” and “Technologies of design and administration of DB and SD”, “WEB design and WEB programming”, “Algorithmization and programming “, “Life cycle of software”.

The study of the educational discipline “Business analysis of IT projects” involves the achievement of such a qualification level of bachelor’s training, for which he must:

 а) know

• who is a business analyst;
• goals and objectives of business analysis;
• types, types of business processes;
• stages of business analysis;
• SDLC process;
• techniques of working with stakeholders;
• prioritization techniques;
• different types of diagrams and their applications;
• different types of prototyping;

б) be able to 

• clearly formulate goals and objectives, based on available information;
• analyze business processes;
• conduct stakeholder analysis;
• plan and organize the main stages of business analysis;
• express business requirements, user needs, functional requirements and non-functional requirements;
• prioritize requirements;
• create a Business Model Canvas;
• determine the scope of work on MVP;
• write a user story;
• build a use case diagram;
• develop a business process model using various tools.
