Graduates of the Department of Public Administration and Business Management of the Faculty of Finance and Business Management of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv successfully completed their training at the volunteer management training.

The event took place on September 10-11, 2024 as part of the Red Cross project «Civil society contributes to increasing resilience in Ukraine» (PSPU).

The participants of the training were higher education graduates of the Department of Public Administration and Business Management, who are studying under the educational and professional program «Public Administration and Business Management» at the bachelor’s and master’s educational levels, specialty 281 «Public Administration and Administration».  This is of particular importance, since future specialists in public administration must possess knowledge and competences for effective activity in the conditions of martial law and participation in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.

During two days, the winners learned the basics of volunteer management, which is defined as the art of organizing the work of volunteers for the effective achievement of the organization’s goals and the realization of its main mission – helping people.

The training program covered the following key topics:

  • Cycle of volunteer management;
  • Methods of determining the needs of the population and the organization;
  • Volunteer recruitment strategies;
  • Processes of motivation and recognition of volunteers and colleagues.

It is important to note that the Red Cross of Ukraine, which conducted the training, is the largest humanitarian organization in the world.  In Ukraine, it has more than 8,000 volunteers and has a network of about 200 local organizations throughout the country.
