Start of the Summer School

On June 22, the Faculty of FinancialManagement and Business launched the First Summer School “Urban Revitalization – the EU Experience for Ukraine”, implemented within the Jean Monet Module of the Erasmus + program with the support of the EU (Urban Revitalization – the EU experience for Ukraine 620957-EPP-1- 2020-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE).

The participants of the school were students of various specialties of the Ivan Franko National University, other universities, teachers and practitioners interested in the EU policy on urban renewal and its sustainable development.

The first day’s program includes lots of activities. Dean of the Faculty Andriy Stasyshyn announced the opening of the school and wished the participants to gain new knowledge and competencies in addressing the issues of sustainable development of Ukrainian cities. Hryhoriy Mozolevych, Head of the Expert Group of the Directorate of Science and Innovation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech, expressing interest in the project and the possibility of implementing the knowledge gained during the School in other European integration projects and events. The head of the department, professor Natalia Sytnyk, spoke about the international orientation of many projects implemented at the Department of Financial Management, introduced the project team and wished the participants fruitful discussions and significant achievements during the school.

The program of the first day included lectures “The essence of urban development policy in the EU” and “Types and methods of urban revitalization” by the project coordinator, associate professor Olga Sych; an interactive survey of participants on the level of satisfaction with existing urban development during the seminar “The role of the European city in economic development” (associate professor Vira Kruhlіakova), as well as training” Tools for revitalization – Problem Analysis “by the project team.
