On October 18, as part of the University Days, a round table of the scientific and practical circle “Tax space” of the Department of Financial Management was held (leader – Associate Professor Olga Sych). Students of the first bachelor’s and second master’s degrees of the “Finance, Customs and Tax Affairs” and “Financial Management” educational programs took part in the event. The round table concerned the actual problems of functioning and reforming the financial system of Ukraine in response to the challenges of martial law. Under the leadership of the department’s teachers, three dozen theses of reports were prepared, highlighting the current trends in the development of the financial market, banking strategies, the formation of the foundations of financial security at the level of the state as a whole and economic entities in particular. Considerable attention was paid to the tax policy as part of the toolkit of state regulation of economic processes. The participants of the round table characterized the dynamics and structure of tax revenues in terms of taxes, noted the growth of the excise tax and its impact on consumption, analysed the reasons for the growth of revenues from personal income tax and the single social contribution. The question of the introduction of tax benefits and simplifications for the period of martial law turned out to be debatable, because behind the apparent advantages of such actions lie a number of shortcomings and unresolved problems of a systemic nature. At the end, the participants of the round table noted positive developments in the sphere of state regulation, the stability of the financial system of Ukraine, the reduction of inflation, the accumulation of reserves, and the growth of tax revenues to the budgets of various levels. Such measures allow students to develop the skills of generalizing professional information and master the tools of conducting research, which increases their competence in the field of finance.
