Scientific and methodological seminar of the Department of Digital Economy and Business Analytics on the topic “Time management in the professional activity of a teacher and rational use of study time”

On March 19, 2024, a scientific and methodological seminar of the Department of Digital Economy and Business Analytics of the Faculty of Finance and Business Management of Ivan Franko Lviv National University was held on the topic: “Time management in the professional activity of a teacher and rational use of study time”.

It was discussed in the framework of the seminar:

• challenges and tasks of a university teacher in today’s conditions;
• the importance of time management for increasing the effectiveness of teaching activities;
• basic principles of time management for teachers of higher education institutions;
• time management tools and methods for effective organization of teachers’ working hours;
• the advantages of time management in improving the quality of education and promoting the academic success of students;
• the importance of using calendar tools and planners in the work of the department to distribute tasks between teachers and monitor their execution, in particular in Microsoft Planner.

The head of the department, professor Iryna SHEVCHUK, guarantor of the educational program “Information technologies in business” specialty 051 “Economics” of the second (master’s) level of higher education noted that time management is becoming an integral component of the professional activity of teachers of higher education institutions. After all, the functional duties assigned to them include not only conducting classes and preparing for them, but also scientific research, work with students, administrative duties, and constant personal professional development. In this regard, effective time management becomes a decisive factor for successful and productive activities, ensuring punctuality in the performance of duties and timely response to student requests, forming a high-quality educational environment for students of higher education under the ЕPP “Information Technologies in Business”.

Associate professor Yulianna STADNYK, guarantor of the educational program “Information technologies in business” specialty 051 “Economics” of the first (bachelor) level of higher education, shared her experience of using time management techniques in the IT sphere and outlined the possibilities of their adaptation to the educational process at the University and for work teachers, which will allow the participants of the educational process to become more flexible and ready for non-standard situations during training, to solve such situations without stress and loss of productivity.

The teaching staff of the department also emphasized the importance of using time management tools in their work to achieve their own professional goals and meet the needs of students and the university community. Therefore, improving time management skills remains an important task for every teacher of the department to ensure quality education and development of science in Ukraine.
