Interdepartmental seminar of the Department of Digital Economics and Business Analytics and the Department of Intellectual Property, Information and Corporate Law on the topic “Legal regulation of the IT sphere”

On April 28, 2021, an interdepartmental seminar with the participation of the Department of Digital Economics and Business Analytics of the Faculty of Finance and Business Management and the Department of Intellectual Property, Information and Corporate Law of the Faculty of Law of Ivan Franko LNU was held online on the Microsoft Teams platform. regulation of the IT sphere”. The meeting was organized for students of 3-4 courses of the educational program “Information Technologies in Business” specialty 051 “Economics”.

The collaboration of LAW and IT in modern conditions of activity is extremely necessary and important. Because today, IT professionals need a detailed study of the legal regulation of information relations, technology, protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights in IT, software copyright registration and more. On the other hand, the law, as a social regulator, faces complex challenges in the field of regulating relations arising in connection with the use of information technology and ensuring the rights and interests of their participants.

During the seminar, Maxim Sukhanov, a lecturer and partner of TMN, focused the attention of students and teachers on the concepts of e-commerce and e-business from a legal point of view. The participants of the seminar discussed the reasons for the existence of certain challenges in this area and ways to overcome them.

An interesting topic was shared with the participants of the interdepartmental seminar by a teacher, Ph.D. Khrystyna Kmetyk-Podubinska, who described a computer program as an object of legal protection. As a result, it was noted that computer programs occupy a special place among the objects of intellectual property rights, as it is one of the strategic resources in the context of digitalization and digitalization of society.

Lecturers of the Department of Digital Economics and Business Analytics Anna Starukh, Iryna Shevchuk, Oksana Vaskiv, Bohdan Deputat, who were present at the meeting, stressed the importance and necessity of holding such meetings for joint discussion and opportunities to share experiences.

Given the relevance of the topic, the cooperation of the Department of Intellectual Property, Information and Corporate Law of the Faculty of Law and the Department of Digital Economics and Business Analytics of the Faculty of Finance and Business will be reflected in the following research activities aimed at joint activities of teachers and students!!!
