Methodical seminar of the Department of Digital Economy and Business Analytics on the topic: “Scenarios of using CHATGPT for updating educational and methodological complexes of disciplines”

On May 5, 2023, at the Department of Digital Economy and Business Analytics of the Faculty of Financial Management and Business of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, a methodological seminar was held on the topic “Scenarios of using CHATGPT for updating educational and methodological complexes of disciplines.” The speaker is Doctor of Economics, Professor Iryna SHEVCHUK.

Within the framework of the seminar, the teachers of the department discussed issues related to the peculiarities of using CHATGPT to update the educational and methodological complexes of the disciplines of the educational programs “Information Technologies in Business” of the first (bachelor’s) and second (master’s) levels of higher education, specialty 051 “Economics”.

Special attention was focused on the following issues:

  • development of a study plan for an academic discipline;
  • the practice of accessible interpretation of the meanings of terms;
  • selection of main theses in lecture materials;
  • creation of test questions and questions for assessing the level of student’s knowledge;
  • a selection of quotes from famous people on the topic of the lecture;
  • development of a step-by-step plan for mastering specific information technology;
  • formation of a list of recommended literature;
  • arrangement of the dictionary of the main terms and concepts of the discipline;
  • application for drawing up methodological instructions for the performance of laboratory work tasks in educational disciplines, or outlining possible directions for improving their content;
  • checking laboratory tasks completed by students, for example, generating tests to find bugs in the program code, fix them, or improve the code itself.

The seminar ended with a productive discussion and the development of ideas regarding the use of the acquired knowledge to improve the teaching of educational components and improve their educational and methodological support.
