The purpose of the seminar is to deepen the understanding of the student-centered approach in the educational process and the introduction of a person-oriented learning technology to ensure the comprehensive development of the personality of a student of higher education

Topics of reports:

  • The role of the competence approach in the system of student-centered education.
  • The relevance of a student-centered approach in teaching academic disciplines.
  • Application of a student-centered approach during the development of educational programs.

Guarantor of OP “Finance, customs and tax affairs” of the second (master’s) level of higher education, Doctor of Economics, prof. Ulyana Vatamanyuk-Zelinska focused her report on the topic “The role of the competence approach in the system of student-centered education” on the transition from the traditional approach, which is centered on teaching, to education oriented to learning, where students are the center of the educational process. The speaker noted that the analysis of many educational systems shows that one of the ways to update the content of education and educational technologies, to harmonize them with the modern needs of integration into the world educational space, is to focus educational programs on a competency-based approach and create effective mechanisms for its introduction. Training based on a competency-based approach in the system of student-centered education forms in learners critical thinking, a responsible attitude to the acquisition of knowledge and skills, as well as such qualities and professional skills that are necessary for the labor market, and the criteria and parameters for evaluating the results of education are unified and expressed in terms and results that can be interpreted and taken into account in any educational institution of other countries.

Guarantor of OP “Finance, Customs and Tax Affairs” of the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education, Doctor of Economics, Assoc. Oksana Zakhidna gave a speech on the topic: “Relevance of a student-centered approach in teaching academic disciplines” and noted that student-centered learning and teaching play an important role in stimulating student motivation, self-analysis, and involvement in the educational process. As today’s higher education systems become increasingly student-centered and require new tools to ensure transparency and recognition, the use of a student-centered approach in education facilitates the development of blended learning models and the process of recognition of prior learning, which provides the necessary flexibility for lifelong learning.

Guarantor of OPP “Financial Management” of the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education, Doctor of Economics, prof. Yuliya Shushkova, in her report on the topic: “Application of a student-centered approach during the development of educational programs”, paid great attention to the definition of student-centered learning, its main categories, the methodology of building educational programs, the concept, as well as the features of higher education in the European space. The speaker emphasized that student-centered learning involves new approaches to the development of educational programs, the learning and teaching process. Increasing the effectiveness of teaching occurs in the process of a harmonious combination of classic traditional methods and the results of creative research, the use of non-standard, progressive technologies, original didactic ideas and forms of ensuring the quality of the educational process. Student-centered training in educational programs should be fully implemented along with the introduction of an individual learning trajectory into the educational process.

The meeting took place in the form of a discussion with the teachers of the department.
