On April 19, 2024, masters of the educational program “Information technologies in business” specialty 051 “Economics” and teachers of the department of digital economy and business analytics of the faculty of finance management and business of the Ivan Franko National University had the opportunity, as part of the study of the academic discipline “Measurement and evaluation tools of social of economic processes” (lecturer Prof. Iryna SHEVCHUK) to listen to a lecture by the executive director of the Institute of Strategic Risk Management David Rubens on the topic: “Creating The Next-Generation Risk Management Framework” (David Rubens, London, Great Britain).

This lecture considered the challenges related to the development of strategic risk and crisis management frameworks, as well as opportunities that meet the challenges of the next generation.

The lecturer repeatedly emphasized that we do not live in a world of stable risks, there are always unprecedented events related to risk, and therefore we must constantly prepare for those challenges that are in our midst. Big cities must be ready for risks and crises. But how to prepare them for those crises? And is it possible to plan crises? For this, it is necessary to keep a register of risks that may arise. Constantly assess the risks and think about what they can lead to.

It is emphasized that these issues should be dealt with by scientists and specialists with appropriate skills in modeling and evaluating the course of socio-economic processes at different hierarchical levels.

However, special emphasis is placed on the fact that in order to avoid crises, it is necessary to learn from previous crises and the crises of others.

After the lecture, there was a discussion of topical issues, in particular, the issue of the application of appropriate methods and tools for assessing the scale of the crisis and diagnosing the possibilities of the anti-crisis potential for its neutralization aroused the greatest interest among the masters.
