On October 5, 2022, a meeting was held at the Faculty of Finance and Business Management with Doctor of Law, Associate Professor, Professor of the Department of Social Law Burak Volodymyr Yaroslavovych. The event was organized by advisers of the Department of Financial Management as part of the week-long initiative “Say No to Violence!”. During the event, the legal basis for the organization and regulation of labor relations during the war was considered.

Since the state of war had a drastic impact on all spheres of life of Ukrainians, including labor activities, the future employment and successful work of our graduates also depends on knowing their rights and defending their interests in labor relations with the employer. For this, it is necessary to possess a considerable legal base in order to conduct a professional dialogue with partners at various levels.

During the meeting, changes in labor legislation caused by martial law were also discussed. The issue of increasing the length of working hours, in particular for employees of critical infrastructure, was discussed; new grounds for termination and termination of the employment contract; the basic principle of part-time payment; the employer’s right to limit the duration of an employee’s annual basic leave during martial law. And also about labor discrimination, peculiarities of employment of minors, protection of the rights of persons with disabilities, etc.

They discussed compensation to employees and employers for the sums of money lost as a result of the armed aggression against Ukraine, in particular due to the mechanism of collecting reparations from Russia, including confiscation of Russian assets in favor of Ukraine.

Under martial law, business laws change every day. We hope for positive changes in peacetime.

The students of higher education and the staff of the Department of Financial Management are sincerely grateful to V.Ya. Buraku for an informative and constructive meeting!
