Round table on the discussion of ways to improve the OPP “Information technologies in business” at the bachelor’s and master’s levels of higher education in the specialty 051 “Economics”

On March 14, 2023, a round table was held on the Teams platform “Information technologies in business: professional competences of a specialist in the conditions of a diverse labor market”, the purpose of which was to involve stakeholders, representatives of authorities, the scientific community of Ukraine, graduates and students of the specialty in a productive and constructive discussion 051 “Economics” regarding the improvement of educational programs of Ivan Franko Lviv National University “Information Technologies in Business” of the first (bachelor’s) and second (master’s) levels of higher education in the specialty 051 “Economics”.

Moderators:

  1. Iryna SHEVCHUK – doctor of economics, professor, head of the department of Digital economy and business analytics of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, the guarantor of the second (master’s) level educational program “Information technologies in business” in the specialty 051 “Economics”.
  2. Bohdan DEPUTAT – Ph.D., Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Digital Economy and Business Analytics of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

Participants: scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department of Digital Economy and Business Analytics, students of higher education, specialty 051 “Economics”.

 

Based on the results of the round table, the following recommendations for updating educational programs were formed:

  • include such disciplines as “Cyber hygiene”, “Cyberspace and business security”, “Anti-crisis diagnostics”, “Technological entrepreneurship”, “Organizational development of business”, “Design thinking in business”, “Technologies of analysis in economic systems” in the curricula IT strategies”;
  • provide for the study of the basics of time management, conflict theory, self-presentation, and communication as a component of separate educational disciplines that provide general competencies;
  • the use of workshops as an innovative educational technology in the educational process, and group performance of tasks by students in practical classes with the aim of acquiring interpersonal interaction skills.

The meeting made it possible to study the opinion of all parties interested in the quality of future specialists of the economic profile, who have fundamental knowledge in the field of economics, information technologies, economic and mathematical modeling, business analysis, and a high awareness of the digitization of the economy and the course of socio-economic processes in IT industry.
