Guest lecture “Academic integrity” for applicants of specialty 281 “Public management and administration”
On October 11, 2023, as part of the “Academic Integrity Week”, the Department of Public Administration and Business Management organized a guest lecture on the topic “Academic Integrity” for students of the first (bachelor’s), second (master’s) and third (postgraduate) levels of higher education, specialty 281 “Public management and administration”. The event was held in an offline/online format.
The guest speaker was Dmytro Novak – Head of the social and humanitarian section of the Scientific Society of students, postgraduates, doctoral students and young scientists of the Ivan Franko University of Lviv. The guest lecture was held as part of the teaching of the academic discipline “Introduction to the profession and academic integrity” (the teacher is Docent Olena Reshota) with the assistance of the Chair of the Student Council of the faculty Maria Kormylo and the head of the student-postgraduate scientific studies “State Creator” of the Department of Public Administration and Business Management Nadiya Bodnaruk .
In an interesting way, the speaker communicated with students about fundamental values and violations of academic integrity. Practical cases regarding types of academic dishonesty and responsibility for violating the rules of academic integrity when writing scientific papers were also considered.
The speaker was happy to answer the applicants’ questions about the general activities of the Scientific Society of students, postgraduates, doctoral students and young scientists of the University, about online platforms and text checking programs for plagiarism, etc. The guest lecture ended with students signing the Declaration of Academic Integrity.
