From Theory to Practice: Excursion of Students from the Educational Program in Public Administration and Business Management to Lviv City Council

On November 8th, students and professors from the Department of Public Administration and Business Management of the Faculty of Finance and Business Management at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv visited Lviv City Council. This excursion was organized in collaboration with the head of the Professional Education Department, Bogdan Ivanus, who is a key stakeholder of the educational program. The purpose of the visit was to familiarize the students with the work of the city’s public authorities and provide them with an opportunity to interact with Deputy Mayor Andriy Moskalenko.

During the meeting, Andriy Moskalenko shared his career path, the structure and functions of the city council, municipal projects and initiatives, the development of urban infrastructure, economy, IT industry, and technologies. He also offered advice and perspectives for young people who want to work for the benefit of the city. He encouraged the youth to actively engage in community activities and volunteering during their studies to gain valuable experience and competencies.

The head of the Department of Public Administration and Business Management, Hanna Komarnytska, and the program coordinator, Olena Reshota, expressed hope for further cooperation with Lviv City Council. The students expressed their gratitude for the interesting and informative meeting, which helped them better understand the work of the city’s public authorities. They also thanked Bogdan Ivanus for his active efforts in improving the quality of the educational program in Public Administration and Business Management.

After the meeting with the Deputy Mayor of Lviv, the students and professors toured the premises of the city council, where they learned about the structure, powers, and functions of this governing body. They had the opportunity to see the session hall and other important facilities.

The excursion to Lviv City Council was interesting and educational for the students. It allowed them to see how local government functions, how urban development issues are addressed, and what projects are being implemented for the benefit of the community. This visit also facilitated the connection between students and professors with the practical work in the field of public administration and management.

Such excursions to public institutions and government bodies are an important component of the learning process in the educational program of Public Administration and Business Management. They help young people gain practical knowledge and see how theoretical concepts are applied in practice. Such meetings also encourage youth to actively participate in civic activities and develop their own leadership skills.

The meeting with the Deputy Mayor of Lviv and the excursion to Lviv City Council proved to be useful and inspiring for the participants of the educational program. They gained new knowledge and confidence that their education has practical significance and can contribute to the improvement of management and city development.
