6TH FORUM “EFFECTIVE LOCAL SELF-GOVERNMENT AS A GUARANTEE OF A DEMOCRATIC AND LEGAL STATE”

On November 11-12, the 6th Forum “Effective local self-government as a guarantee of a democratic and legal state” was held in the form of an online webinar, which was attended by the scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department of Public Administration and Business Management of the Faculty of Finance and Business Management. The forum consisted of 5 panel discussions and one blitz session, in which there were discussions about:

• Amendments to the Constitution in terms of decentralization and reform of local state administrations.
• Associations of local self-government bodies: principles of the European Charter of Local Self-Government and legislative regulation in Ukraine.
• Urban agglomerations.
• Development of mountain areas.
• Protection of the rights of internally displaced persons.

The event was organized by the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Organization of State Power, Local Self-Government, Regional Development and Urban Planning, the Ministry of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, Donetsk Regional State Administration, Luhansk Regional State Administration, Lviv Regional State Administration with the assistance and support of the Council of Europe Program. Decentralization and reform of public administration in Ukraine “.

About 50 speakers joined the Forum, including MPs from Ukraine, representatives of central and local executive bodies, associations of local governments, experts and academics, and international partners.

During the Forum, topical issues of legislative regulation in the field of local self-government and territorial organization of power, relevant European standards and foreign experience were discussed. This is a good experience of updating the necessary information for teachers majoring in 281 Public Administration.
