The discipline “Financial Management” is a normative course for the specialty “Finance, Banking, Insurance, and the Stock Market” (D 2) and is part of the educational program “Finance, Banking and Insurance.” It is taught in the 1st semester and is worth 5 credits (according to the European Credit Transfer System – ECTS).

The educational course “Financial Management” aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills, particularly the techniques and methods used to understand the modern market economy and its complex, branched structure. The financial sector is quite complex and branched, and it undergoes permanent changes in accordance with evolving economic conditions. The complexity and versatility of financial relationships within a managing entity determine the necessity of organizing highly efficient management of its finances.

The goal of the educational course is to form in students modern economic thinking and a system of specialized knowledge in the field of enterprise financial management, as well as practical skills for their application in various areas of financial activity.

The objectives of the course are:

  1. To form a comprehensive understanding of the mechanism of enterprise financial management and the application of methodical tools for financial management.
  2. To develop skills in managing incoming and outgoing cash flows of the enterprise.
  3. To master methods for developing financial strategies for the enterprise’s activities, taking into account its financial and economic condition and its position on the market.
  4. To develop the ability to apply a systematic approach to developing policies for profit management, investment policies, and asset management of the enterprise, as well as when determining the cost of capital and optimizing its structure.
  5. To teach how to make correct managerial decisions under conditions of uncertainty and to apply anti-crisis financial management tools in a timely manner.
