As part of the seminar, Professor Iryna SHEVCHUK, guarantor of the educational program “Information Technologies in Business” specialty 051 “Economics” of the second (master’s) level of higher education, presented the results of the compliance analysis of the OPP “Information Technologies in Business” of the first (bachelor’s) and second (master’s) levels of higher education, which are implemented in the Ivan Franko National University, according to the requirements of the industry Standards of higher education. And also voiced information about the popularity of these OPP data among applicants, compliance with current Standards. At the same time, each of the considered programs has its own originality and content, which is determined by the specifics and objective goals of the higher education institution itself and the needs of regional labor markets.

In addition, Oksana VASKIV’s methodological report on the topic “War and education in Ukraine” was heard, during which the following questions were discussed by the teachers of the department:

  • critical challenges in higher education;
  • losses of the higher education system due to the war;
  • higher education in the conditions of war through the eyes of students;
  • psychoemotional state;
  • priorities of Ukraine in the field of education.

Special attention was paid to the results of the survey “Higher education in the conditions of war through the eyes of students”, conducted by Info Sapiens on the order of the School of Political Analytics of the Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences with the financial support of the Representative Office of the “Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom” in Ukraine. The field stage lasted during June-July 2022. The survey method was Computer Assisted Web Interviewing (online survey). The target audience of the survey was students who continue to study at universities or were students of such institutions as of February 24, 2022, regardless of their status at the time of the survey. The total sample of the survey was 12,019 people from 30 vocational schools. All regions of Ukraine (except the occupied territories) are represented in the sample, proportional filling by universities.

The questions in the questionnaire were formulated in such a way as to obtain answers regarding whether:

  • young students see the meaning in getting an education during the war;
  • psychological stress affects the ability to learn and how;
  • critical changes took place in higher education institutions after February 24;
  • do Ukrainian students believe in the improvement of the higher education system after the end of the war;
  • the openness of European countries and universities can cause a “brain drain” from Ukraine.

Identified trends in the preferences of entrants and the development of OPPs of other higher education institutions, changes in the system of higher education of Ukraine and the vision of the faculty of the department regarding the state and prospects for the development of the specialty 051 “Economics” in today’s difficult conditions will be taken into account in the process of updating the OPP “Information Technologies in Business” for the first (bachelor’s) and second (master’s) levels of higher education.
