Using the international experience of European higher education institutions in the application of digital tools for teaching financial disciplines

Associate Professor of the Department of Financial Management Olga Sych took part in a series of trainings that took place on June 2-6, 2025 at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece). Training for teachers was carried out within the framework of the UkraineDigiTrans project “Digital Transformation of Medical Education in Ukraine”, funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ program “Capacity Development in Higher Education”. The speakers of the trainings were experts from European universities who introduced participants to innovative approaches to teaching, digitalization of learning using artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, and gamification of the educational process. In addition, they talked about effective communication – increasing motivation and active participation of students in learning, overcoming teacher resistance to change, and analysing teachers’ expectations from students.

Participation in a cycle of trainings of this level allowed to acquire new knowledge and competencies, to prepare educational materials, which the associate professor shared with the teaching staff of the department. Thus, on June 25, the Department of Financial Management held a methodological seminar on the introduction of best practices of digitalization from European universities in improving the teaching of financial disciplines.

The head of the department, Professor Nataliya Sytnyk, emphasized that a significant number of teachers of the Department of Financial Management improve their digital skills and improve innovative teaching methods within the framework of trainings and courses of teaching skills of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. Therefore, the seminar was practical in nature and served as a platform for exchanging experience regarding the use of Mentimeter and Slido survey platforms, Padlet and Miro interaction environments, the possibilities of creating scenarios and personalized learning in Moodle. Seminar participants had the opportunity to apply innovative tools in practice and evaluate their advantages and bottlenecks, as well as the feasibility of implementing them in teaching financial disciplines.
