September 17, 2021 Associate Professor of Financial Management Kruglyakova V.V. and Petyk L.O. together with the academic groups UFF-11s, UFF-12s and UFF-22s of the educational program “Finance, Customs and Tax Affairs” held an educational event dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Ukrainian hryvnia.

25 years ago, on September 2, 1996, the modern national currency – the hryvnia – was born. The monetary reform lasted only two weeks, from September 2 to 16, 1996. During this period, the exchange of rubles for the hryvnia continued (100,000 rubles = 1 hryvnia), and after September 16, 1996, the only means of payment in Ukraine was the hryvnia.

For a quarter of a century now, the hryvnia has been not only a currency, a national currency, but also a symbol of our state.

Today, the fourth generation of the national currency with the most modern protective elements is in circulation, moreover, with Ukrainian flax in the composition.

During all this time, the Aesthetic Commission of the International Finance Bank has twice recognized the hryvnia as the most beautiful currency in the world and the most resistant to wear.

Students of the UFF-22c group prepared an interesting story for freshmen about the history of the Ukrainian national currency, its birth, revival, modernity and innovation.

First-year students were interested in learning about the path taken by the hryvnia in the 25 years since the monetary reform and how it has changed over that time.
