The City вudget рrocess: from public administration theory to practice
Students from the Department of Public Administration and Business Management, Faculty of Finance and Business Management, at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv attended an informative lecture on the budget of the Lviv community.
The lecture for future specialists in the field of public administration was delivered by Viktoria Dovzhik, Director of the Financial Policy Department at Lviv City Council – an experienced professional who is directly involved in formulating and implementing the city’s financial policy.
During the meeting, Ms Dovzhik spoke in detail about the structure of the Lviv community budget, the mechanisms for its formation, the main sources of revenue, spending priorities and the challenges facing the city in the context of wartime and economic instability. The students had a unique opportunity to hear about the budgetary process ‘first-hand’ – from someone who deals with these issues at the highest level on a daily basis.
The young people actively joined in the discussion. The students asked probing questions, took part in the debate and analysed real-life examples from the practice of public finance management. The lecture successfully combined theoretical knowledge with practical insights, which is particularly valuable for students of the relevant department.
“Such meetings with practitioners allow us not only to gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter, but also to see how theory works in real life,” say the lecture attendees.
Such initiatives help to prepare a new generation of managers who will be able to work effectively for the benefit of the community. The Department of Public Administration and Business Management plans to continue developing its cooperation with leading experts from Lviv City Council.
