On December 4th, a cognitive educational hour on the topic “The Art of Communication and Ethics in Social Media” was held for students of the UFF-14 group (curator – Associate Professor Olha Sych).

During the meeting, the students not only acquired key theoretical knowledge but also applied it in practice. After starting with an interactive discussion of the basic concepts related to online communication, the students moved on to creating “5 Rules of Netiquette”. Through joint efforts, the group formulated its own code of conduct based on respect, empathy, and critical thinking.

The liveliest discussion unfolded during the analysis of case studies related to real-life situations. Participants discussed how to properly respond to anonymous hate and how to protect themselves online without escalating conflict. Using the example of a case involving an ill-considered published photo, the students clarified what a “digital footprint” is and why one cannot post other people’s content without their consent.

The young people developed simple but effective rules for checking information to avoid becoming a tool for spreading disinformation. It was emphasized how emotions can hinder critical thinking.

At the end of the event, each participant named one rule or word that they remembered and internalized. After all, behavior on social media is a continuation of one’s values, reflecting the user’s intellect and culture.
