Within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the State Customs Service of Ukraine and the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, a study visit of 2nd-4th year students of the Faculty of Finance and Business Management to the Customs Clearance Department No. 1 of the customs post “Lviv-North” was held.
The students were told about the procedure for customs clearance of goods, benefits and preferences, the features of the automated risk management system and the risk management system, as well as the process of interaction between customs authorities and foreign economic entities.
The visitors were particularly interested in practical aspects – processing of declarations. In particular, the students were explained what “single customs clearance” means and the skills of its application when completing customs formalities.
The practical part of the visit was an excursion around the customs post, during which the students were visually familiar with the process of clearance of goods in the “import” and “export” modes.
The meeting was held by Lyubomyr Posmityukh, Deputy Head of the Customs Clearance Department No. 1 of the Lviv-North Customs Post. He shared his own professional experience and emphasized the main qualities that are needed by anyone who aspires to work in the customs service:
“Working at customs is not only about knowledge, but also about daily development. You need to understand the legislation, know the rights and obligations of a civil servant, be attentive and responsible. Our team is a well-coordinated mechanism, and everyone in it has their own important role.”
Diana Bilas, a 4th-year student of the “Finance, Customs and Taxation” educational program, shared her impressions: “This excursion was extremely useful and informative. We received answers to all our questions: how the internship is going, what are the requirements for interns. It was especially nice to see young specialists among the staff – it motivates and gives us confidence that we too will be able to realize ourselves in this area. Thank you very much for your openness and sincere conversation!”
Such meetings are an important step towards strengthening the connection between education and practice. They help young people better understand the specifics of the profession and see real opportunities for career growth in the customs sector.
