Round table “Tax Policy Transformation – EU Experience for Ukraine”
The Department of Financial Management has become a good tradition to celebrate the University Days with student scientific events. This year, on October 14, a round table of the scientific and practical group “Tax Space” was held on the topic “Tax Policy Transformation – EU Experience for Ukraine” (head – Associate Professor Olga Sych). The event was attended by students of the first bachelor’s and second master’s levels of the educational program “Finance, Customs and Taxation”.
The round table addressed the current challenges facing the tax system of Ukraine on the path to European integration and the prospects for improving tax policy in modern realities. Under the guidance of the department’s teachers, abstracts of the students’ reports were prepared, which highlighted modern trends in the budget process, tax and customs administration, and outlined the directions of digitalization of relations between taxpayers and the state. Considerable attention was paid to the concepts of tax culture, tax evasion, the application of tax amnesty and the harmonization of domestic tax legislation with European legislation.
The event was held at the “Educational and Training Center for Financial Technologies” using multimedia and the Mentimeter application. This allowed the speakers to illustrate their speeches with high-quality demonstration material, and all participants in the event to interact interactively, giving online feedback.
The following reports were made by Myroslava Kozik “Tax Culture as a Factor of Ukraine’s Economic Integration into the EU”, Yana Denysiuk “Tax Consequences of Factoring Operations for Enterprises”, Myroslava Luchyn “European Experience in Combating Tax Evasion” and Yana Gabrylchuk “Tax Amnesty as a Tool for De-Shading the Economy”. The participants of the round table expressed their views on the causes of tax evasion and recipes for improving Ukraine’s tax policy. At the end, the applicants interactively summarized what they heard and focused on the key challenges facing Ukraine’s tax policy on its path to the EU.
Engaging young students in scientific research contributes to the high-quality and deep acquisition of professional knowledge and develops critical thinking skills, the ability to work with information and reasonably express their opinions. We thank all the participants of the round table and the authors of the reports for their active participation and interest in tax issues!
