Regional seminar ‘The current state of the higher education quality assurance system in Ukraine’

On 22 November 2024, a regional seminar on ‘The Current State of the Higher Education Quality Assurance System in Ukraine: Challenges and Prospects’ was held at the Ivan Bobersky Lviv National University of Physical Culture. The event was organised by the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance (NAQA).

The seminar was attended by more than 100 representatives from more than 30 regions of Ukraine: educators, scientists, heads of higher education institutions, guarantors of educational programmes and specialists responsible for the internal quality assurance system.

Key topics of the seminar and speakers:

  1. Updated Regulation on Accreditation of Educational Programmes and its new requirements for universities – Andrii Butenko, Head of the NAQA.
  2. Procedure for evaluation of educational programmes in accordance with the new Regulations, evaluation criteria – Olena Yeremenko, Deputy Head of the NAQA.
  3. Post-accreditation monitoring and peculiarities of the process of appealing against the decisions of the NAQA – Ivan Nazarov, Deputy Head of the NAQA.
  4. Requirements for the establishment of one-time specialised councils – Leontii Shypilov, Head of the Intelligence Council Support and Analytics Department of the NAQA Secretariat.

The Department of Public Administration and Business Management of the Faculty of Finance and Business Management of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv was represented by the Head of the Department, Doctor of Economics, Professor Hanna Komarnytska, who is the guarantor of the educational and scientific programme of the third (educational and scientific) level of higher education and the head of the structural unit.

During the seminar, participants received detailed explanations on the updated accreditation procedures, the specifics of the formation of self-assessment reports and other aspects of higher education quality assurance. The management of the NAQA represented by its Chairman Andrii Butenko and his deputies Olena Yeremenko and Ivan Nazarov, as well as Leontii Shipilov, provided comprehensive answers to numerous questions from the audience.

Holding regional seminars of the NAQA is an important initiative that promotes the dissemination of up-to-date information on innovations in the field of higher education quality and provides educators with practical tools to improve educational standards in their institutions.
