Representatives of the Department of Digital Economics and Business Analytics participated in an international workshop on XR technologies and digital transformation
On January 16, 2026, representatives of the Department of Digital Economics and Business Analytics of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv joined the international scientific and technical workshop CoMet (Cognitive Metaverse: Beyond Traditional Reality) and the conference “XR Technologies and Digital Transformation in Ukraine: Challenges and Prospects”, which took place at the Lviv Polytechnic National University.
The event was organized by the Department of Virtual Reality Systems of Lviv Polytechnic National University together with partners – XR Ukraine, Lviv IT Cluster and tsukat – and brought together representatives of technology businesses, specialized associations and the academic community to discuss key trends in the development of the XR industry and the digital economy in Ukraine.
The event discussed the following issues:
- the current state and prospects for the development of the Ukrainian XR market,
practical application of AR/VR, computer vision and digital twins,
transformation of educational programs in accordance with the needs of the IT industry,
development of cooperation between universities and business in the format of joint R&D projects and grant initiatives.
A report from the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv was delivered by the guarantor of the educational program “Digital Economy” of the second (master’s) level of higher education, head of the Department of Digital Economics and Business Analytics, Professor Iryna SHEVCHUK, who presented a vision of the development of the educational program in the context of the spread of XR technologies and the formation of a new digital economic reality.
The speech emphasized that XR, digital twins, computer vision and metaverses are now going beyond experimental technologies and becoming full-fledged elements of the modern economy, changing business models, approaches to management, training and interaction with customers. Particular attention was paid to the role of education in training specialists who must combine understanding of economic processes, management and digital technologies.
Participation in the workshop was an important step in strengthening the dialogue between the educational environment, the scientific community and IT business. Following the event, the parties expressed interest in developing further cooperation, in particular in the following formats:
- joint interdepartmental and interuniversity educational initiatives,
- non-formal education and interdisciplinary educational projects.
Such events create an environment in which new ideas, partnerships and innovative solutions are born that will contribute to the development of the digital economy and XR ecosystem in Ukraine.
