Participation of lecturers of the department of public administration and business management in the meeting of the university-wide seminar on the topic “Gryhoriy Skovoroda: the relevant wisdom of Ukrainian Socrates”, timed to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding philosopher

On October 27, 2022, a meeting of the all-university seminar “Philosophy of Science” was held in the Hall of Mirrors of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv under the scientific guidance of the rector, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Professor Volodymyr Petrovych Melnyk, timed to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the famous Ukrainian thinker Gryhoriy Skovoroda.

The seminar featured a lecture by the head of the Department of History of Philosophy, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, translator Andrii Dakhniy on the topic “Gryhoriy Skovoroda: the topical wisdom of Ukrainian Socrates.”

Associate Professor of the Department of Public Administration and Business Management Olena Reshota and students of the higher education program “Public Administration and Business Management” of the UFP-31s group joined the lecture.

The figure of Gryhoriy Skovoroda still arouses the interest of foreign and domestic researchers, because the philosopher was an extraordinary personality, an outstanding Ukrainian thinker-mystic, theologian, poet, polyglot, teacher who made a significant contribution to the development of East Slavic culture. The life credo of the thinker: “life is a constant and continuous search for the truth” was directly reflected in the philosophical searches and lifestyle of Gryhoriy Savych. Philosophical views of H. Skovoroda are devoted mainly to ethics. He was not loyal to the church and secular hierarchy, rejected any coercion, disliked church rituals, preferring personal spiritual freedom.

Professor A. Dakhnii also disclosed in an open lecture on the topic “Gryhoriy Skovoroda: the topical wisdom of Ukrainian Socrates” the question of the unity of the philosopher’s life and work, the peculiarities of the perception of Gryhoriy Skovoroda’s philosophical views in the conditions of full-scale military operations on the territory of Ukraine.

The figure of the most famous Ukrainian thinker is also considered by modern scientists and researchers through the prism of Ukrainian identity, the specifics of our spiritual culture and mentality, because still “the world catches the famous philosopher, but cannot catch him…”
