Guest lecture by the financial director of BRITISH AMERICAN TABACCO UKRAINE Mr. Vlad LESHCHIY

Vlad LESHCHIY, financial director of BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO UKRAINE, Doctor of Economics, certified by CIMA “Management of Business Efficiency” held a guest lecture on the topic: “Allocating business resources through the lens of investment management” at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv for the students of the second (master’s) level of higher education, specialty 051 “Economics” ЕP “Information technologies in business”.

The lecture was delivered from Kyiv online to master’s students of the Department of Digital Economy and Business Analytics during the study of the academic discipline “Microeconomic Analysis” (lecturer, Associate Professor Iryna BORSHCHUK).

During the lecture, Vlad LESCHIY focused on such basic issues as evaluation and prioritization of investment projects and business initiatives, construction of investment approval processes and evaluation of the effectiveness of investment projects and initiatives. Modern methods of evaluation in mergers and acquisitions of financial investments and the use of CPI for evaluating the activity of responsibility centers were also considered. The speaker proved and argued the main points of his report on the example of the activities of the BRITISH AMERICAN TABACCO UKRAINE company, which not only did not leave the Ukrainian market during the full-scale invasion, but also increased its potential.

During the event, students asked questions and a lively discussion took place on what role reputational risks play in the company’s financial planning, especially in the context of changing consumer preferences for tobacco products, what measures the company takes to manage the risks associated with with supply and production, in particular in the context of global crises such as pandemics or geopolitical conflicts, how exchange rate fluctuations affect the financial results of the company, and what strategies British Tobacco uses to manage its investments.

Recommendations and wishes of the practice that the structures of individual educational components will be used in the preparation of work programs of the educational program “Information technologies in business”, in particular the discipline “Microeconomic analysis”.
