Educational Event for Students of Group UFP-21s Dedicated to International Mother Language Day
“Nations do not die of a heart attack. First, they are deprived of their language.” Lina Kostenko
Language is the foundation of the spiritual and cultural life of any society, reflecting its centuries-old history and worldview. It acts not only as the primary means of communication but also as the most powerful instrument for preserving and developing our material and spiritual heritage. Realizing the significance of one’s native language is an integral part of forming a conscious citizen.
On the occasion of International Mother Language Day, which the global community celebrates annually on February 21, a thematic educational event was held for students of group UFP-21s, who are studying under the “Public Administration and Business Management” educational and professional program. The event was organized by the group’s academic advisor, Olena Reshota, Associate Professor of the Department of Public Administration and Business Management. During the discussion, the associate professor emphasized to the students the exceptional importance of the Ukrainian language for the state, its strengthening, and the fulfillment of its state-building function. The advisor also shared a number of interesting facts about the Ukrainian language, discussing its richness and the long historical path of its formation.
A separate segment of the event was dedicated to discussing the role of the Ukrainian language in the current context of the full-scale invasion. The students agreed that today, the native word is an extremely important element of cultural and national consciousness. Under the conditions of armed aggression, language has become a powerful symbol of resistance, self-identity, and the inner strength of the nation. Summarizing the meeting, those present reached a common conclusion: knowing, preserving, and enriching the native language is everyone’s duty.
Ultimately, it is a respectful attitude towards our native language that forms the foundation of our resilience and serves as the guarantee for preserving the Ukrainian nation within the circle of free European states.
