On October 1, 2024, an educational discussion dedicated to the Day of Defenders of Ukraine took place in group UFP-11s of the educational and professional program “Public Administration and Business Management.” The group advisor, Olena Reshota, an associate professor of the Department of Public Administration and Business Management, introduced students to the history of the holidays celebrated on October 1: the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, the Christian holiday of the Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the Day of Ukrainian Cossacks. The advisor emphasized the significance of these holidays in the context of Ukrainian history and culture, encouraging students to gain a deeper understanding of their meaning.

During the discussion, students actively talked about examples of bravery and valor of modern defenders of Ukraine serving in the Armed Forces. Associate Professor Olena Reshota paid special attention to the heroic life path and military achievements of Hero of Ukraine Dmytro Kotsiubailo, known by the call sign “Da Vinci”—the first volunteer in Ukraine to be posthumously awarded the title of “Hero of Ukraine.” The story of defender “Da Vinci” became a vivid example of courage and self-sacrifice, urging the youth to recognize the importance of supporting the defenders of the country and reflecting on the high price at which our freedom and independence are won every day.

Thanks to this patriotic event, students not only deepened their knowledge of the history of national holidays but also had the opportunity to think about their role in a future filled with challenges and changes. Such discussions contribute to the formation of an active civic stance among the youth, highlighting the importance of patriotism in contemporary life.

Thank you to the Defenders of Ukraine! Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Heroes! With faith in victory and a flourishing future for Ukraine!
