On 4 September 2025, the Department of Public Administration and Business Management of the Faculty of Finance and Business Management at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv held an interactive lecture-training session entitled ‘What’s playing in your head?’, dedicated to the topic of conscious choice of musical content and rejection of Russian cultural products during wartime.

The meeting for 1st-3rd year students of the Department of Public Administration and Business Management was conducted by Ksenia Yemshyna, representative of the TVORY! network and the initiative ‘Lviv – Youth Capital of Europe 2025’ at the invitation of the head of the department, Hanna Komarnytska.

During the event, students had the opportunity not only to reflect on the role music plays in shaping personal values, but also to hear examples of how cultural choices affect our society and resilience in confronting Russian aggression. The lecturer shared her experience of conducting similar lessons for schoolchildren in Lviv and emphasised that conscious consumption of content is an important element of Ukraine’s information security and cultural independence.

In a relaxed atmosphere, students discussed their musical preferences, received practical advice on how to find quality alternatives to Russian content, and heard about Ukrainian and international artists whose tracks inspire and support them in difficult times.

Such lectures help young people realise their responsibility for their own choices and develop critical thinking in the field of culture. Cooperation between the educational community and public initiatives such as TVORY! and Lviv – European Youth Capital 2025 proves that a university is not only a place to gain knowledge, but also a space for developing civic engagement and European values.
