On the occasion of celebrating September 15 as the International Day of Democracy (this decision was adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2007), the Department of Economics and Public Administration in 2024 will start the Democracy Week, which this year lasted from September 16 to 20. Each day was devoted to important topics: democracy as an EU value; communication as the main component of the democratic process in the social sphere;  tools for improving democratic governance in public administration; democratic governance as an important condition for sustainable socio-economic development of territorial communities; gender equality as a basic principle of parity democracy.

In today’s globalized world, sustainable development is impossible without ensuring peace and security, as well as establishing productive cooperation at the international level. One of the requirements for national stability should be ensuring the sustainable development of the state and society. Democracy is a universal value based on the free expression of the people’s will, which determines their political, economic, social and cultural systems, and involves the active participation of citizens in making socially important decisions. The purpose of this day is to draw attention to how valuable freedom of thought and respect for human rights are for every individual.

The participants of the event had a unique opportunity to discuss how European standards of civic education are being implemented in the Ukrainian context, and to discuss its role in the formation of democratic values in the context of European integration processes in Ukraine.
