CRITICAL THINKING FOR MANAGERS
The Department of Public Administration and Business Management of the Faculty of Finance and Business Management at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv continues to invest in developing critical thinking skills in its students. On 9 October 2025, an intensive and informative training session on information and media literacy was held, which was an important step in preparing future managers for the realities of the modern information space.
Andriy Fendyk, Regional Coordinator of the ‘Learn and Distinguish: Info-Media Literacy’ project from IREX in Ukraine, was a special guest and speaker at the event.
Mr. Andriy, who also has experience working at the Centre for Joint Action and the Society Initiatives Institute, shared with students practical tools that allow them not only to consume information, but also to analyse it, verify it, and recognise manipulation.
The training was of particular interest to students in their first to third years of the Public Administration and Business Management programme. For them, as future managers and decision-makers, the ability to distinguish between fake news and facts is not just a useful skill, but a fundamental professional requirement.
Participants noted that the lecture was ‘very interesting and informative.’ Students actively participated in the interactive conversation, receiving answers to questions such as how to counter misinformation, what tools to use to quickly verify sources, and why critical thinking is important. is the key to a successful career.
The staff of the Department of Public Administration and Business Management sincerely thanks Mr. Andrii Fendyk for his interactive lecture and extremely interesting and informative conversation with students. Holding such events once again confirms the department’s interest in ensuring that its students are media literate and have well-developed critical thinking skills.
