At the beginning of October (according to the new Julian calendar), three great holidays fall at once – the Day of the Ukrainian Cossacks, the feast of the Intercession of the Holy Mother of God and the Day of the Defender of Ukraine.
On October 2, 2024, students of the UFO-31c group, together with adviser Natalia Loboda, held an educational event on the topic: “Nation of the Unconquered: from Cossacks to the present day”.
Students prepared and demonstrated a presentation in which they were introduced to the history of the holiday. Military culture occupies an important place in the history and culture of every people of the world.

Military traditions and customs are passed down from generation to generation, young people are brought up on them, they have an important place in the education of future citizens – patriots of their country. The armed forces of the Ukrainian people have a long history. One of its brightest pages dates back to the 15th century. It was then that the Ukrainian Cossacks were formed. The word “Cossack” is of Turkic origin – from the Old Turkic “kioz”, which means to travel. The Ukrainian Cossacks defended their lands, presented Ukrainianness on the international stage, organized the Zaporizhia Sich and managed to continue the state-building traditions of Russia by creating the Zaporizhia Army state. In the midst of the Cossacks, the Mother of God was venerated and considered to be their intercessor on the battlefield (a unique type of Orthodox icon was created – “Cossack Protection”, which depicted representatives of the Cossacks under the protection of the Mother of God).
On such a day, we would like to emphasize that we remember the exploits of heroes who at different times defended the freedom and independence of our land. Cossacks are the legendary past of the Ukrainian people, their shrine. We honor Cossacks as a symbol of freedom, victory and national dignity. Protection of the Motherland and love for it are our highest values!
