CERTIFICATION OF MASTERS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION AND BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
On 10-11 December 2024, the Faculty of Finance and Business Management of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv successfully completed the defence of master’s qualification works by applicants for the second (master’s) level of higher education in the speciality 281 ‘Public Administration and Management’ of the EPP Public Administration and Business Management.
The certification commission was headed by Maksym Leonidovych Stoliarchuk, Head of the Digital Development Department of the Lviv Regional Military Administration. The commission consisted of leading academic staff: Doctor of Economics, Professor Hanna Komarnytska, Doctor of Economics, Professor Borys Karpinskyi, Candidate of Public Administration, Associate Professor Olena Reshota, Candidate of Economics, Associate Professor Olena Herasymenko. Olena Gerasymenko and the secretary of the commission, laboratory assistant of the department Maria Kormylo.
In the process of defending their qualification (master’s) theses, the students presented comprehensive research on topical issues of public management and administration, which are characterised by a high level of theoretical substantiation and practical significance.
In the context of the modernisation of the public administration system, the applicants have developed innovative approaches to improving communication mechanisms, which are an effective tool for preventing and resolving interpersonal conflicts in the field of public administration. Considerable attention is paid to the methodological principles of preventing conflicts of interest and implementing mechanisms of participatory democracy in the decision-making process.
The research in the field of public sector digitalisation is of considerable research interest, where the master’s students proposed the theoretical and methodological foundations for the development of e-government at the regional level and substantiated conceptual approaches to the implementation of e-democracy technologies. The proposals developed to stimulate the development of the digital economy through the functioning of the Diia.City innovation ecosystem are also important.
In terms of the transformation of territorial governance, the methodological foundations of business administration in the context of decentralisation and mechanisms for implementing participatory governance at the level of territorial communities were studied. The master’s students substantiated innovative approaches to the development of communication interaction between local governments and civil society institutions.
Given the current challenges, the students paid special attention to the issues of anti-crisis management under martial law, in particular, they developed mechanisms for adapting regional development strategies and coordinating the interaction of public administration and regional policy. The proposed communication strategies for charitable foundations to attract international donor assistance are of great practical importance.
As part of the institutional development research, they proposed scientific and methodological approaches to the implementation of international anti-corruption standards in the activities of public organisations and the introduction of innovative methods of human resources management. Master’s students developed practical recommendations for the development of information and communication technologies in the public administration system, the development of the construction industry, etc.
The presented research is characterised by a systematic approach to the analysis of the issues, a sound theoretical and methodological basis and practical focus of the proposed recommendations. Particular attention is paid to the adaptation of international experience to Ukrainian realities and the development of innovative approaches to solving urgent problems of public administration and management under martial law.
The applicants have demonstrated a high level of theoretical training and practical competencies in the field of public administration and management. Based on the results of the defence, the attestation commission unanimously recommended that the graduates be awarded a Master’s degree in Public Administration.
It is worth noting that all applicants of the educational and professional programme ‘Public Administration and Business Management’ successfully passed the unified state qualification exam, which indicates the proper level of training of specialists at the department. Congratulations to the graduates of the Department of Public Administration and Business Management on the successful defence of their master’s theses! We wish them success in their future careers and fulfilment in society.
