November 16-17, 2024, applicants for the OPP “Financial Management” (group UFM-11s, advisor – prof. of the Department of Financial Management Yuliia SHUSHKOVA) visited one of the most popular vacation spots in the Carpathians – the city of Skole. The city is located in the valley of the Opir River and is surrounded on all sides by mountains (hence one of the versions of the origin of the city’s name – from the word “rock”). This is a magical kingdom of nature, where beech-spruce forests, meditative crystal-clear streams, fresh air…

This is a city where, along with nature, they treat the history of their native land with care. Having visited the “Skolivshchyna Historical and Local History Museum”, the applicants got acquainted with the traditions and crafts of the Boykivshchyna region. Among the museum’s exhibits are elements of Boyko forestry, agricultural implements, folk crafts; the interior of a Boyko hut, mannequins of a housewife and a landlady in national clothes, old icons, a bambetel, a credenza with dishes, a chest with a bride’s dowry; sacred art (the iconostasis of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Skole, a shroud from 1895, the second edition of the Theological Book of Petro Mohyla from 1646), etc. In the museum, you can turn a millstone, crush grain in a mortar, and most importantly, go down into the dungeon, where the NKVD once tortured local residents for disobedience, and visit a hiding place.

As the participants noted, “this trip left us with unforgettable impressions and brought us even closer to the history of our people!”

Enchanted by the beauty of the Carpathian landscapes, inspired by the cultural heritage of the Ukrainian people, everyone returned to Lviv to conquer new educational peaks.
