Course description

The purpose of studying the discipline “Systems Analysis in Economics and Management” – to provide a system of theoretical and practical knowledge on the implementation of systematic analysis of economic processes and management decisions. As well as the development of systems thinking, awareness of the need to apply a systems approach to management and decision-making, the study of complex phenomena and processes in socio-economic systems.
The subject of study of the disciplineis the formation of theoretical knowledge on structural and system analysis of economic systems, assessing the level of complexity and determining the type of dynamics of systems to determine the optimal method of their modeling, taking into account existing direct and feedback; mastering practical skills of structural analysis, economic evaluation of systems development scenarios, evaluation of economic results of systems that are in conditions of uncertainty, taking into account the associated risks.

The object of study of the discipline is economics, its units and the processes that take place in them, specific models, methods and algorithms are considered in connection with the relevant problems of analysis and management in economic and financial systems.

The main objectives of the discipline are: acquaintance with the concept of systems analysis; clarifying the place and role of a systematic approach in scientific and practical activities; to help master the specifics of the methodology of systems analysis in economics and management; acquaintance with methods and tools of system analysis in economics and management; learn to apply certain methods of systems analysis for the analysis of economic processes.

Requirements for knowledge and skills
The study of the discipline involves the achievement of such a qualification level of student training, at which he must:
a) know:

  • stages of development of system representations, the basic directions of system researches, the basic concepts of the system analysis and principles of the system approach;
  • system-methodological aspects of modeling; methodologies and methods of system analysis; methods of obtaining information for system analysis;
  • basic methodologies of information systems design;

b) be able to:

  • distinguish between problems to which the application of systems analysis is appropriate;
  • interpret the basic concepts of systems analysis and the principles of a systems approach to information systems and computerization objects;
  • classify systems and methods of system modeling; apply analytical and synthetic approaches to modeling information systems and computerization objects;
  • build a system life cycle, apply methodologies, methods and algorithms of system analysis to solve problems on complex objects of computerization;
  • organize the collection of information for system analysis in accordance with the principles of the system approach;
  • apply system analysis methodologies in the design of specific information systems.
