Опис курсу
The course “Smart Economy” is aimed at developing a systemic understanding of the digital transformation of the economy and the implementation of intelligent technologies in business processes, public administration, and global economic systems.
The course covers the integration of AI, IoT, Blockchain, Big Data, FinTech, smart sustainable development technologies, and VR/AR into modern economic models. Special attention is paid to the economic impact of smart solutions, digital decentralization, and emerging business models.
Course Objective
The objective of the course is to develop students’ systemic vision of the Smart Economy as a new stage in the evolution of the digital economy, as well as to enhance skills in analyzing, modeling, and implementing smart technologies across various sectors of the economy.
Course Goals
- To explore the concept of the Smart Economy and its components;
- To analyze the role of AI, IoT, and Blockchain in shaping new economic models;
- To study the economic impact of Big Data analytics;
- To examine the influence of FinTech on financial systems;
- To assess the role of smart technologies in sustainable development;
- To develop practical skills in analyzing digital case studies.
Integral Competence
IC1 – Ability to solve complex economic and managerial tasks related to the analysis, design, and implementation of digital transformation models of economic systems at national, regional, and corporate levels under conditions of technological change, global competition, and digital risks.
General Competencies
GC2 – Ability to conduct systemic analysis of socio-economic processes in the context of digital transformation.
GC3 – Ability to act responsibly and ethically in the digital environment, taking into account principles of digital security and data protection.
GC6 – Ability to make well-founded managerial decisions under conditions of technological uncertainty and digital risks.
GC8 – Ability to use modern information-analytical systems, digital platforms, and data processing tools for economic analysis.
Special Competencies
SC2 – Ability to analyze the impact of digital technologies (AI, Big Data, IoT, Blockchain, FinTech, Web3) on the functioning of economic systems.
SC4 – Ability to assess the level of digital maturity of enterprises and economic sectors.
SC6 – Ability to develop digital transformation strategies for business processes and platform-based models.
SC9 – Ability to evaluate the economic, financial, and social consequences of automation, digitalization, and artificial intelligence implementation.
SC11 – Ability to integrate digital management tools (CRM, web analytics, digital platforms) into strategic management practice.

The Student Must:
a) Know:
- The theoretical foundations of the Smart Economy concept and its connection with the Fourth Industrial Revolution;
- Economic models of digital transformation;
- Principles of digital platform functioning and platform economy;
- Fundamentals of artificial intelligence, Big Data, IoT, Blockchain, FinTech, and Web3 in the economic context;
- Mechanisms of business process digitalization;
- International digital development indicators (DESI, World Bank, OECD, UNCTAD);
- Risks of the digital economy: cyber threats, regulatory constraints, and technological inequality;
- The impact of automation and digitalization on the labor market.
b) Be Able To:
- Conduct comprehensive analysis of digital transformation processes;
- Assess the efficiency of digital technology implementation in enterprise activities;
- Analyze digital platforms and business models;
- Use web analytics and CRM tools for economic evaluation;
- Develop enterprise digital transformation strategies;
- Substantiate managerial decisions under digital risk conditions;
- Work with international statistical databases;
- Prepare analytical reports and present research results in Ukrainian and English.
