The discipline “Central Bank and Monetary Policy” is an elective discipline in the specialty “Finance, Banking, Insurance and Stock Market” for the educational program “Finance, Customs and Taxation”, which is taught in the 6th semester in the amount of 4 credits (according to the European Credit Transfer System ECTS).

The purpose of studying the academic discipline “Central Bank and Monetary Policy” is to form theoretical and applied knowledge in the field of monetary policy and the functioning of the central bank.

Objectives of the discipline:

− to enable applicants to master knowledge about the basics of the organization and activities of the central bank of the state, the main tasks, functions and operations of the central bank, its status;

− to form in applicants a systematic understanding of the essence and goals of monetary policy as a component of the national economic policy;

− to familiarize applicants with the instruments of monetary policy, the activities of the central bank in the field of currency regulation, the relationship of the central bank with authorities and banks;

− to form in applicants an understanding of the features of the NBU’s performance of its functions, the use of mechanisms and instruments by which the bank solves its tasks and achieves its goals.
